Accessory used, among others, in portrait and fashion photography to obtain the effect:
- cutting off the main subject of the photo from the background, e.g. people, products
- to direct the light beam diffused by the softbox in a certain direction, without the light escaping to the sides
NOTE: The denser the honeycomb and the smaller the openings, the stronger the light limiting/directing effect, i.e. a 4 cm opening will limit the light more than a 5 cm opening. However, remember that the smaller the holes in a honeycomb, the greater the loss of light power.
